Many came out to share their thoughts on Davidson’s future!
Over the course of three days, the Shaping What’s Next workshop got a lot done! On Day 1, attendees received an overview presentation by the project team and then provided feedback at various activity stations. The station exercises asked participants to review the town’s revised General Planning Principles and share input on a vision statement for the plan. The exercises also asked participants to consider which areas to change, maintain or replicate as well as to share their thoughts about community character and design. Day 2 started with theme-based discussions ranging in topics from growth management and historic preservation to community design and affordable housing. The Day 1 activity stations were still accessible during the second day, with many members of the public stopping in to provide their feedback. Day 3 started with wrapping up the theme-based discussions and synthesizing the input from the previous days. That evening, the multi-day workshop culminated with a final presentation and open house to share progress on what had been achieved and to gather additional feedback. About 150 participants engaged over the three days, with many new people becoming involved. To date, over 13,000 pieces of input have been received as part of the What’s Next planning process. We are excited to use everyone’s comments and ideas as we sit down to begin drafting the Comprehensive Plan. Make sure to keep visiting WhatsNextDavidson.com to keep up with the process!
